Courtesy of Warner RecordsKeedron Bryant brought the world to tears with his powerhouse voice on his Black Lives Matter anthem, “I Just Wanna Live.”
Today, the 13-year old viral star shares a provoking Sara Lacombe-directed visual that captures the urgency of the song’s message of change and the pain of the state of the world.
The video opens with a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, with the American flag as its backdrop. Byrant appears on his knees and raises his head to see a visibly angry white police officer holding a gun to his face, while surrounded by a group of people.
The names of Eric Brown, George Floyd, Freddie Gray, Breonna Taylor, and other Black men and women who died at the hands of police began to appear on the screen, painted on a Black body.
Other clips include a black hoodie with Skittles hanging out the pocket, as a reminder of the murder of Trayvon Marton, who was shot and killed by George Zimmerman in 2012.
“I Just Wanna Live” was released last month’s as Keedron’s major-label debut. He signed with Warner Records following his powerful acapella performance of the song in May.
Since getting his big break during season four of Little Big Shots, Bryant has turned heads and received tons of praise from the likes of Will Smith, LeBron James, gospel legend Kirk Franklin and former President Barack Obama.
