Melissa BenderThe allegations against R. Kelly are mounting with the R&B crooner now being accused by a former employee of having sex with an underage girl in a newly surfaced video.
According to the alleged whistleblower’s attorney, Michael Avenatti, the VHS tape was submitted to Chicago’s Cook County State’s Attorney’s office last weekend. Avenatti believes his client knows that the unidentified girl was underage at the time.
Thursday morning, Avenatti released a statement via Twitter in which he claims he received a 45-minute videotape from his client which shows “Kelly engaging in multiple sexual assaults of a girl underage.”
“Importantly, this conclusive video evidence is not the same evidence previously seen and used in connection with the prior criminal matter in which Mr. Kelly was charged,” Avenatti added.
Avenatti also noted that the time frame of the illicit acts depicted in the video is “within the Illinois statue of limitations.”
Per the New Yorker, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx would not comment on the matter. However, a law enforcement official told the publication that an indictment is pending and Kelly could be arrested soon.
Early last month, Lifetime aired a shocking six-part expose, titled Surviving R. Kelly, which detailed the decades-long history of alleged predatory behavior by the singer.
