Alicia Keys Covers Ebony, Says Her New Album Will Be Timeless

by

Thierry Le Gouès/EbonyAlicia Keys will be featured on the cover of Ebony‘s September fashion issue. The vocalist, who posed for the magazine without a speck of makeup, candidly voiced her opinions about the current social justice issues that plague America.

“We are at a tipping point for major change. Senseless killings are outrageous and unacceptable. It’s like a slap in the face. It’s a constant reminder that our lives — our Black lives — are literally meaningless,” says Keys.

In the cover story, Alicia also talks self-confidence and her upcoming sixth studio album.

“Now, I think I’ve created something timeless, music that could come out today or 30 years from now. It will remain powerful,” says Keys.

“Alicia Keys is one of the artists I respect most because of her dedication to social justice and desire to go beyond lip service to make the world a better place. Her commentary on race, class and gender were illuminating and she shared some sentiments with us  that you will see few other places,” said Ebony Editor-in-Chief and Senior Vice President of Digital Editorial, Kyra Kyles.
