James BaileyIt’s officially been 10 years since Alicia Keys walked down the aisle and said “I do” to now-husband Swizz Beatz. While they may be celebrating their tin anniversary, the singer can’t believe how fast the time has gone.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the “Empire State of Mind” artist revealed just how mind boggling it was to realize she spent the last decade as a married woman.
“It feels like two years. It goes by so fast. We are so connected and we have such a beautiful bond,” the 15-time Grammy Award-winner gushed before detailing one of her daily highlights, which is waking “up next to each other like, ‘What are you doing here? Whoa, I can’t believe I am with you, man!’ It feels really really cool.”
The couple now share two sons together, nine-year-old Egypt and five-year-old Genesis. However, Keys says their first “baby” — so to speak — was their music.
“What is so amazing is, both my husband and I, we started music so young. We were 14 and 15-years-old when we first started everything,” the singer noted. “So it is really incredible to just see him creating this amazing Verzuz platform with Timbaland, and for us to just both be at our height and place where we have really continued to grow and evolve.”
Calling music their “first loves,” Keys noted, “to be able to do that continuously and for there to be genuine love and real connection, that’s incredible.”
Their tenth anniversary coincided with the release of Keys’ seventh studio album ALICIA — which Beatz helped produce to make it “perfect.”
The album allowed Keys to “fully be myself” on it — including the good, bad to “all the crazies.”
“It really takes you on an incredible journey,” she grinned.
