Alicia Keys is creating a new musical titled Hell’s Kitchen, the name of her childhood neighborhood. Per the synopsis, the musical will specifically delve into “the story of Ali, a young girl growing up in NYC’s Hell’s Kitchen in the 1990s.”
According to Deadline, Alicia’s teamed up with New York’s off-Broadway Public Theater to develop the project, seemingly based on her childhood days. Michael Greif will direct, Kristoffer Diaz will write the book and Camille A. Brown is handling choreography.
Most of the lead roles have already been cast, including that of main character Ali, “a strong, stubborn girl with a rebellious streak.”
