ABC/Image Group LAAndra Day is rising up to receive the prestigious Powerhouse award at this year’s Billboard Women in Music event, the magazine announced.
The retro-soul singer-songwriter also will perform at the awards ceremony, where pop music icon Madonna, country music superstar Shania Twain and electropop singer-songwriter Halsey also will receive awards for their noteworthy contributions to the music industry.
Day’s Grammy-nominated debut album, Cheers to the Fall, peaked on Billboard‘s R&B Albums chart at number three, while her single “Rise Up” climbed to the number-six spot on the Adult R&B Songs chart.
Billboard‘s Women in Music gala will take place on December 9 in New York City and will air on Lifetime on December 12.
