Paras Griffin/WireImage; Matthew McNulty/RedfernsCan Brandy and Monica fans expect a sequel to their “The Boy Is Mine” rivalry? The divas appear to be in a new rivalry, this time off-camera and in regards to Monica’s single, “So Gone,” which was released in 2003.
Brandy was recently asked by a fan to participate in the popular #SoGoneChallenge social media dare, where fans of Monica and celebrities rap freestyle lyrics along to the audio instrumental of Monica’s 2003 single, “So Gone.”
However, Brandy denied the request on Instagram with a simple “chile bye,” message, captured by gossip website Rhymes with Snitch.
Over the weekend, Monica posted an Instagram message, taken by many of her fans as a response to Brandy’s “So Gone” snub. “Still Working… I couldn’t be more grateful,” she wrote.
“Negativity, envy, hate & jealous are the key to an early demise..What ever you spread amongst the world is sure to come back to you.. .”
And Brandy’s own Instagram response to Monica’s message? A picture of herself holding up a Photoshopped “Chile, Bye!” sign.
“Oh My GOD, this statement has me sooooooo relevant and soooooo famous again (sarcastic)!!” wrote Brandy, apparently in response to the speculation. “Should I do the #childbyechallenge for more validation????? Or maybe I should drop a single like a remix or something so I can stay on top…. .”
