Maury Phillips/WireImageAshanti, Mia X, and V. Bozeman from Empire are the latest artists added to the lineup of the Essence Festival. The ladies will perform individually with Doug E. Fresh at the Superdome in New Orleans.
Mia X will join the rapper on the festival opening night, July 6, Bozeman will perform with him on July 7, and Ashanti will share the stage with the legendary beatboxer on the closing night, July 8.
The festival opens on July 6 with Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Snoop Dogg, Miguel, and Ledisi also performing on the main stage.
Queen Latifah is bringing her “Ladies First” show to the festival on July 7 featuring Missy Elliott, Remy Ma, MC Lyte and Nikki D. They join a Saturday lineup which includes Mary J. Blige and Xscape.
The three-day event closes July 8 with performances from Janet Jackson, Fantasia, and Teddy Riley with SWV, Blackstreet, and Guy.
