Courtesy of ARRAYAva DuVernay is officially getting into the podcasting business.

The Selma director has partnered with Spotify to produce scripted and unscripted original audio programming through her ARRAY arts and social impact collective, which focuses on diverse narratives. The exclusive, multi-year deal is in collaboration with Spotify-owned studio Gimlet, which is led by former HuffPost editor-in-chief Lydia Polgreen

“Recognizing the undeniable power of voice and sound, I’m thrilled to extend ARRAY’s storytelling into the realm of podcasts,” said DuVernay in a statement. “The opportunity to work with Lydia Polgreen and her passionate team drew us to Spotify as a home for our audio narratives and we couldn’t be more excited to begin this new creative journey.”

Spotify’s pact with DuVernay comes after the audio streamer recently announced deals with Barack and Michelle Obama, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Jordan Peele, and Kim Kardashian.

This is the latest venture for DuVernay’s ARRAY, which was founded in 2011 as a hub for film production and distribution and non-profit work.

All podcasts on Spotify are available for free.
