BET Awards 2019: Here’s what to expect on Sunday night

Courtesy of BETThe 2019 BET Award is set to celebrate the very best in entertainment and culture on Sunday night. 

Overseeing the festivities is Regina Hall, who will host the 19th annual award show live from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. A few major highlights of the evening include Nipsey Hussle being posthumously honored with the Humanitarian Award as well as a special tribute performance from John LegendDJ Khaled, and YG.

In addition, Grammy Award-winning singer and Oscar-nominated actress, Mary J. Blige, will be presented with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, and entertainment mogul, Tyler Perry, will be recognized with the Ultimate Icon Award.

As previously reported, Cardi B, Migos, H.E.R., Lil Nas XBilly Ray Cyrus, Lizzo and more have been tapped for a star-studded line-up of performances. Additional acts include DJ Mustard, Lil Baby, City Girls’ Yung Miami, Lucky Daye, and Kiana Ledé.

Cardi leads this year’s nominations with a total of seven, including Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, two separate nods in both the Best Collaboration and Video of the Year categories, Album of the Year and the Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice Award. Drake follows with five nods for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Video of the Year, Best Collaboration and the Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice Award.

Other leading nominees include BeyoncéTravis Scott and J. Cole who received four nominations each, with Bruno Mars21 SavageChildish GambinoH.E.R. and Ella Mai each scoring three nominations.
