BET gives first look at Lena Waithe’s ‘Twenties’ comedy series

BETBET has released the first trailer for Twenties, Lena Waithe’s new comedy series set to premiere early next year.

The series, created by Waithe while in her early twenties, follows the life of a “queer black girl” named Hattie, played by newcomer Jonica “JoJo” T. Gibbs, who as big dreams of becoming a writer. She’s joined by her two heterosexual best friends, Nia and Marie, played by Gabrielle Graham and Christina Elmore, respectively, who are also trying to succeed in their careers as they navigate life.

“I took this job so I could be a writer,” says Gibbs in promo after she lands a new gig as a writer’s assistant.

Sophina Brown and Big Sean are also part of the ensemble cast.  Jenifer LewisKym WhitleyRick FoxVanessa Williams, and Seth Green will all guest star later in the season.

Twenties will air on BET in early 2020.
