Beyonce’s Producer Recalls Reworking “Crazy in Love” for ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’

by

IImage Courtesy Cliff Lipson/CBSPeople are still buzzing about Beyonce‘s revamped version of her 2003 hit “Crazy in Love,” which soundtracks the new trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey. Now, the song’s producer is talking about the process of making sure the new rendition matched the sensual teaser.

Boots, who went from producing Bey’s latest self-titled album to scoring the upcoming flick, explained the reason for reworking Bey’s popular song.

“Falling in love can make you do crazy sh**,” he tells Complex. “That was the spirit of the original song in the first place, we flipped it and it kind of became a whole thing.”

He also praised Beyonce for her vocal performance. “Whenever it comes to the stuff that Bey and I do, I’ll never speak for her, but I think that she killed it,” he says.

So why did he think the song was perfect for the trailer? “It was a cat and mouse thing happening in the trailer and I felt that it needed to feel that way in the build of the score,” he explains before hinting, “There’s a lot of sh** that’s coming up.”
