Beyonce has had a tremendous 2014, which would explain why she’s among Billboard’s 2014 Artists of the Year.
The publication placed the singer at number three this year, based on her chart performance on the Billboard 200 albums tally and the Billboard Hot 100 singles list, as well as streaming, social and box office data compiled between December 7, 2013 and November 29, 2014.
While pop acts One Direction and Katy Perry claimed the #1 and #2 positions, respectively, Queen Bey managed to beat out Pharrell Williams, who came in at # 9, and Eminem, who rounds out the top 10. John Legend secured the #14 position and Drake is in at #16.
Billboard also named the Frozen soundtrack its Album of the Year, and “Happy” its Hot 100 song of the year.
