Fred Savage is probably best known for starring in The Wonder Years, but in 2002, he appeared in the movie Austin Powers in Goldmember with Beyoncé, who was making her feature film debut.  Coincidentally, Beyoncé‘s daughter Blue Ivy goes to the same L.A. school as Fred’s kids — and he can’t say enough about what good parents she and JAY-Z are.

In an episode of People TV’s Couch Surfing, Fred reveals, “She and Jay are, like, great parents. They’re active parents — they’re at school, we have the Summer Olympics at the end of the year…they’re out there having picnics on the field with the blankets — they’re great parents!”

Savage goes on: “I remember, like, walking by and seeing — in the kindergarten, there’s, like, little windows in the door. And Jay was, like, playing peekaboo in the window…he’s just a good dad!”

But Fred admits that when he first saw Bey at the school, he was too scared to go up to her and say hi.

“It took me a minute,” he says. “At one point, I was like, ‘Hey, I’m Fred, we did this movie together.’ And she goes, “No. I know who you are. I saw you here at the beginning of the year. I just didn’t want to come up and say hi and bother you.'”

Fred laughs, “I’m like, ‘Beyoncé! Bother away! Bother away!'”

In Austin Powers in Goldmember, the third and final Austin Powers film, Bey played Foxxy Cleopatra, Austin Powers’ sidekick, while Fred played Number 3.
