Beyonce Embraces Backlash with Boycott Beyonce Merchandise

by

Parkwood/ColumbiaThe Queen Bey is not letting her “haters” take her off her A-game as she is fighting back with her own “Boycott Beyonce” merchandise.

Beyonce fans were seen sporting the new shirts during the first stop on her Formation Tour on Wednesday in Miami. One fan commented on the new T saying, “Beyoncé is selling a boycott beyoncé shirt LMFAOOOO QUEEN BETTER MAKE MONEY OFF THOSE HATERS. WHAT KIND OF SLAY?!”

The decision to sell the shirts comes in part as a response to the mixed emotions for the political and racially charged “Formation” music video.

According to The Miami New Times,Chief of Miami’s police union, Javier Ortiz, had urged officers to boycott Beyoncé’s concert in the city, claiming the singer “used this year’s Super Bowl to divide Americans by promoting the Black Panthers and her anti-police message shows how she does not support law enforcement.” However, the boycott was short-lived as a Miami Police Department spokesman confirmed that several cops were scheduled to work the event and the concert was to be “fully staffed.”

Beyonce addressed the “Formation” backlash in an ELLE Magazine interview saying, “[But] anyone who perceives my message as anti-police is completely mistaken. I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of officers who sacrifice themselves to keep us safe.”
