Beyonce & JAY-Z are coming to town: Schools closing early in South Carolina

by

2018 Parkwood EntertainmentWhen Beyonce and JAY-Z come to town, it’s time to close schools early.

Students at six schools in Columbia, South Carolina will have a half day on August 21, the day the Bey and Jay On The Run II concert arrives at the University of South Carolina Williams-Brice Stadium, according to TheState.com.

“We are going to dismiss these schools early on August 21 due to the heavy traffic anticipated for the concert,” Richland 1 schools district spokeswoman Karen York says.

“Bus routes for these six schools run through or near the stadium area,” she continues. “We are hoping that dismissing these schools early will reduce the likelihood that buses transporting those students home would be delayed by the concert traffic.”

DJ Khaled and Chloe X Halle are the opening acts for the North American leg of the On The Run II tour, which began July 25 in Cleveland.  It wraps up October 4 in Seattle.
