Beyoncé Makes Short List for TIME Person of the Year

by

ABC/Image Group LAIncluded in a group that boasts Hillary Clinton, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erodogan and computer hackers all over the world, Beyoncé has made TIME magazine’s short list for Person of the Year.

The pop icon landed on the list for embracing “explicitly feminist blackness,” namely through her controversial Super Bowl halftime performance, in which she paid homage to the Black Panther Party and, of course, her smash hit album Lemonade.

TIME named President-elect Donald Trump as Person of the Year.

In other news, tapes of Bey and her childhood hip-hop group Girls Tyme are up for sale.

An auction house in London, Ted Owen & Co., is putting 12 original Betamax video tapes of footage showing a 10-year-old Beyoncé rehearsing and performing with the music collective, before she became famous as a member of Destiny’s Child.

The video collection is being offered by closed auction, and bidding is estimated to reach as much as the equivalent of $3.5 million.
