by

Parkwood/ColumbiaAll the attention Beyoncé has received for her surprise album, Lemonade, has paid off on the sales chart.

Lemonade, which has sparked plenty of discussion over whether the singer’s husband, Jay Z, cheated on her, has debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. It earned 653 thousand equivalent album units for the week ending Thursday, including 485 thousand in pure album sales.

Lemonade is Beyoncé’s sixth solo album — all have gone to #1 on the Billboard 200.

Prince continues to have a strong presence on the Billboard 200 following his death last month. He occupies five of the top seven slots, led by The Very Best of Prince, which is #2. The 2001 compilation earned 391 thousand units earned, including 216 thousand copies sold.

The Purple Rain soundtrack rounds out the top three, with 150 thousand units earned, including 133 thousand copies sold.

Billboard notes that Drake‘s latest album, Views, will likely debut at #1 on next week’s chart, with forecasters predicting it could sell more than 800 thousand copies in its first week of release. The album dropped this past Friday.
