Ever wonder what it must be like to be the person responsible for making Beyonce look flawless? Ty Hunter, who has been styling the singer for almost two decades, reveals the team effort it takes to keep Queen Bey on point.
In an interview with Allure, Hunter reflects on their many years of working together. “We’ve been together for 17 years. We’ve been loyal to each other,” he says. “We’re like brother and sister. I have nothing to prove; we’re family. And at the end of the day, I just want her to be happy.”
Hunter says Beyonce also brings others to various projects to contribute to certain looks. “We work with other stylists — I worked with B. Akerlund, Marni [Senofonte], Lysa Cooper. It’s about energy, and we see what they bring to the table,” he says. “Marni is good, and she’s like family, too. We work with her on a lot of different events, on different videos.”
When asked how he felt about her “Feeling Myself” video with Nicki Minaj, he replies: “The video is really, really great. Marni styled it. But in general, everything Beyoncé does on tour, I’m the man behind the scenes.”
