Bill Clinton, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Rev. Al Sharpton, Smokey Robinson and Cicely Tyson to speak at Aretha Franklin’s funeral

The list of speakers also includes Sony Music Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Clive Davis, Bishop T.D. Jakes, former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan.

As previously reported, Stevie Wonder, Ronald Isley, Chaka Khan, Jennifer Hudson and Fantasiawill perform at the service.

The list of performers also includes Yolanda Adams, Pastor Shirley Caesar, The Clark Sisters, Jennifer Holliday, Tasha Cobbs-Leonard, Bishop Marvin Sapp, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Aretha’s son Edward Franklin, the Aretha Franklin Orchestra and the Aretha Franklin Celebration Choir. 

The private “Celebration of Life” home going service will be held August 31 at the Greater Grace Temple in Detroit.

Ahead of that service, there will be three public viewings, also in the Motor City: August 28 and August 29 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, and August 30 from noon to 4 p.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church.

The Queen of Soul died August 16 at her home in Detroit from pancreatic cancer. She was 76.
