Courtesy Hollywood Chamber of CommerceTeddy Riley is among the entertainers who’ll be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2019, and “Mr. New Jack Swing” says he’s humbled by the honor.
“All I can say is Blessings from the most high who’s never failed me!!!!,” Riley commented on Instagramwith a photo of himself next to a shot of Tyler Perry, who is also receiving a star.
He added the hashtags “legend,” “#legacy,” “#NewJackSwing” and “#marriedtothemusic.”
Riley founded the groups Guy and Blackstreet, and he’s written and produced hits for numerous stars, including Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, The Jacksons, JAY-Z, Whitney Houston, Bobby Brown, Usher, and Mary J. Blige.
The 50-year-old musician will perform on the closing night of the Essence Festival, July 8 in New Orleans. He will lead Teddy Riley’s New Jack Curation featuring SWV, Blackstreet, Guy and more artists.
Other musicians who’ll be receiving stars next year include hip-hop group Cypress Hill, late R&B legend Jackie Wilson and pop stars Pink and Michael Buble.
