ABC/ Lou RoccoBroadcast Music Inc.’s R&B/Hip-Hop Awards will be held Thursday in Atlanta.
This year, the performing rights organization is honoring legendary R&B songstress Toni Braxton with the BMI President’s Award, joining the company of previous winners like Ludacris and Will.i.am.
“We are proud to bring the BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards to Atlanta for the first time and to honor Toni Braxton with our President’s Award,” said BMI Vice President of Writer/Publisher Relations, Catherine Brewton.
“As one of the top-selling R&B artists of all time, combined with her philanthropic efforts, I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this recognition.”
The invitation-only ceremony will honor songwriters, music publishers and composer of last year who have achieved significant milestones in the genres of R&B and Hip-Hop.
The best songwriter, producer and publisher of the year will be announced during the event, along with the winner of the BMI Social Star contest. Past Social Star winners include Mac Miller and Machine Gun Kelly.
DJ Khaled and actor Chris Tucker will co-host the event.
