ABC/ Rick RowellBobby Brown says the rumors that he caused Whitney Houston to suffer from drug addiction are not true.
The New Edition member writes in his new memoir, Every Little Step, that he saw Houston do drugs for the first time on their wedding day. Her mother, Cissy Houston, says that story is false.
Brown appeared Wednesday on the Steve Harvey show as part of Men of 90s R&B Week, and he explained that before he started using drugs with Whitney, she already had experience getting high.
“I did not introduce drugs to Whitney at all,” he said. “We did drugs together. There was no introducing her to anything. She already knew what she knew about drugs.”
Brown added, “I didn’t get into really heavy drugs until I met Whitney, but it destroys people. It destroys so many people out there. You have a lot of money. There so many things you can do, and its coming at you. It just comes at you. Being in the business that we’re in, it just comes at you. You’re either gonna fall into it, or you’re not gonna fall into it. Unfortunately, we both did.”
