Earl Gibson III/Getty Images for BETBobby Brown said Saturday that he had to cancel a scheduled performance one day earlier because he is recovering from surgery.
His cancellation came the same day that his late daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown‘s autopsy report was released. It also marked what would have been her 23rd birthday.
Brown, 47, was scheduled to perform Friday at the Charleston Jam Fest in South Carolina, but tweeted that he couldn’t take the stage.
“Charleston, I will see you soon but I had to sit out this time. I will be back soon and I can’t wait to hit the stage,” he said. “I recently had surgery and the recovery time has taken longer than expected.”
Although he didn’t specify what type of surgery he underwent, he added, “My Gastroenterologist has made the decision to keep me resting for another week.”
Friday was the day that an autopsy report for Brown’s daughter with the late Whitney Houston was unsealed, despite an ongoing investigation, after media outlets argued that the report was a matter of public record.
The autopsy revealed that Bobbi Kristina Brown died from lobar pneumonia. The report added that Bobbi Kristina Brown’s pneumonia was caused by her face being immersed “in water complicating mixed drug intoxication,” along with “Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy,” which is brain damage caused by a lack of oxygen.
When the autopsy became public, Bobby Brown said in a statement to ABC News: “First and foremost, 23 years ago today, Bobbi Kristina was born. Krissy will always live in my heart and soul. I love my baby girl. For news affiliates to seek and obtain my daughter’s autopsy report, before anyone has been brought to justice for her death is mind blowing to me. Please pray for my family.”
