Paras Griffin/Getty Images for BETApparently, Bruno Mars was so tired after opening the BET Awards with a performance of “Perm,” he decided to take a little nap during Mary J. Blige‘s performance at the star-studded event.
At least, it appeared that way to some viewers, even though it’s not certain Bruno was actually sleeping at the time.
But that didn’t stop some from dissing and/or mocking the singer online.
One fan mocked Mars by posting a GIF of actor Morgan Freeman pretending to sleep as an audience member before jolting awake to applaud.
Another fan wrote, “Bruno mars disrespectful for sleeping standing up during Mary’s performance… lol,” while one more added, “Lmaoooo Bruno Mars is not impressed…y’all see him sleeping?”
Bruno did wake up long enough to collect two major BET Awards: Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, and Video of the Year for “24k Magic,” a win he shared with Beyonce, for “Sorry.”
