Bryshere Y. Gray Reveals Favorite New Edition Songs on the Steve Harvey Show

ABC/Kelsey McNealThe first installment of BET’s highly anticipated three-night miniseries The New Edition Story premieres Tuesday.

One of the TV movie’s stars, Bryshere Gray, who plays New Edition member Michael Bivins, revealed two of his favorite songs from the group in a game of 30 Second Quick Questions during Monday’s episode of The Steve Harvey Show.

“‘If It Isn’t Love.’ ‘Candy Girl.’ So many!” he says in a video clip.   

Best known as Hakeem on Fox’s hit television show Empire, Bryshere  sat down with Steve Harvey talked about how he came up with his rap alias, Yazz the Greatest, which, along with his career as a performer, were the result of a severe injury during a game of football. 

“It’s my middle name. Lemme stop lying,” he began jokingly. “It’s something that I just created. I got hurt playing football and I just wanted to do something different. That’s it! I was like, ‘I’m tired of getting hurt playing football.’ I broke my arm, my bone came out and I was done.” 

The three-night event of the New Edition Story airs January 24, 25 and 26 at 9 p.m. ET on BET.
