Cardi B defends Kylie’s Jenner cameo in the WAP video

by

Leon Bennett/WireImageCardi B is defending Kylie Jenner‘s appearance in the music video for her “WAP” collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion after a Change.org petition  to remove Jenner from the video received over 64,000 signatures.

Fans online were shocked and puzzled by Kylie’s quick door-opening scene in the video, as fellow artists made other cameos. The video has gained over 58 million views since its release last Friday and features cameos from several rising hip-hop artists, including Mulatto, Rubi Rose, Sukihana, Normani and Rosalía.

In a series of now-deleted tweets, captured by Pop Crave, Cardi explained Kylie’s appearance was due to the kindness she showed Cardi’s sister and her daughter, Kulture, at Jenner’s daughter Stomi‘s birthday party earlier this year.

Cardi added that her husband, Offset, is “real close” with Stormi’s dad, Travis Scott, and Kris Jenner‘s longtime boyfriend Corey Gamble, also noting Kris occasionally gives her “advice on certain things.”

Cardi further explained Normani’s small dance role in the video, which fans felt should have been bigger. “Normani is one of the best female artists that dances her [butt] off!” Cardi said. “Why would she open a door? Please tell me how that would make sense? The best part of the song is the beat & hook it what makes you want to shake your [butt].”

“I wanna say thank you to every woman that was apart of my video!” Cardi continued in another tweet. “The fact that you made time in your schedules means a lot to me! It was so important to me to include different women, that are different races and come from different backgrounds but are so powerful and influential.”
