‘Cherish the Day’ star Alano Miller explains what he wants viewers to get from his new anthology series

by

Courtesy of OWNAlano Miller is giving fans the gift of love with his new romantic drama, anthology series Cherish the Day.

The series, created by Ava DuVernay, centers on Miller as Evan Fisher and Xosha [zo-sha] Roquemore as Gently James, a couple who meet and fall in love in Los Angeles over the course of five years — spread across eight episodes.

Miller, who plays the self-assured tech engineer and would-be entrepreneur, tells ABC Audio that he hopes the series fills a void for those who tune in every week.

“I hope that people walk away wanting to connect,” Miller says. “You know, wanting to look up and see, wanting to build moments, wanting to have moments and be open to the possibilities.”

In the drama, Roquemore plays a free-spirited celebrity assistant, who turns out to be Evan’s polar opposite. Miller says it’s those imperfect and complicated relationships that he hopes people will get to see more of on television.

“And also, I hope that we have more conversations about what love looks like in the 21st century,” he says. “And I think that the show will do that.”

Cherish the Day continues tonight at 8 p.m. ET as part of its two-night premiere on OWN.
