Jack Ma, founder of the Chinese tech giant Alibaba, says he was prompted to donate the crucial supplies because of the crisis that unfolded in his own country.
In a statement on Twitter Friday night, Ma said:
“Drawing from my own country’s experience, speedy and accurate testing and adequate personal protective equipment for medical professionals are most effective in prevent the spread of the virus. At this moment, we can’t beat this virus unless we eliminate boundaries to resources and share our know-how and hard-earned lessons.”
As of Saturday morning (3/14/20), 2,195 people in the US had tested positive for the coronavirus.
