ABC/Lorenzo BevilaquaSibling duo Chloe x Halle recalled their first-time meeting their music mentor Beyoncé during Rolling Stone’s Icons & Influences video series for their March “Women Shaping the Future” issue.
Halle said she was first introduced to Queen Bey during Beyoncé’s days as a member of the group, Destiny’s Child.
“But I really got into her was after I met her because I played the younger version of her in this movie called, Fighting Temptations,” said Halle. “And when I met her she had the best spirit. I think she was like 22, 23 around that time.”
Halle recalled Bey wanting to dance and hold her while on set, adding, “So because of that I really loved her and after that I became more infatuated.”
As the younger sister, Chloe remembered meeting Beyoncé on the red carpet at the Fighting Temptations premiere in 2003.
“I think I was two or three years old but I remember flashes of it,” added Chloe. “Ever since then I just remember loving Beyoncé as an artist and it just turned into this beautiful love for her. We were so inspired at a very young age by her.”
The Ungodly Hour duo agreed they were mostly hooked on Beyoncé’s performances at awards shows.
“I just remember watching Beyoncé’s like, ‘that’s what I want to do one day,'” said Halle. “I can truly say she is one of the inspirations that made me want to do music and so I think definitely her performing…got me hooked.”
