2018 Parkwood EntertainmentBeyonce’s proteges Chloe x Halle are opening the North American leg of the On the Run II tour, which drew two very famous fans — Barack and Michelle Obama — to its recent stop in Maryland.

The sisters are a favorite of Mrs. Obama’s, and Chloe says she’ll never forget when the former First Lady introduced them when they performed at the White House Easter Egg Roll in 2016.

“I feel like it was straight out of a dream,” Chloe tells ABC Radio. “I was excited and happy that I was in a place where I could feel celebrated because of who was in office.”

“To just have someone like Mrs. Obama introduce us in that way was super cool,” she adds. “And then on top of that, Beyonce and her family surprised us there. So you have Mrs. Obama and Beyonce all on the side of the stage and I was like, ‘Wow, this is my life.’”

Beyonce signed the duo to her Parkwood Entertainment label after their cover of her 2014 single “Pretty Hurts” went viral.  But Chloe feels it was destiny, because at the age of four, she appeared with Beyonce in the 2003 movie, The Fighting Temptations, portraying Queen Bey’s character, Lilly, as a child.

“My sister and I believe that there are no coincidences in life, everything happens for a reason,” Chloe says.

“I’m grateful that we were chosen to be in this position,” she continues. “We love Beyonce, and we love her for giving us this platform to share our art form and for allowing us not to change ourselves.”

Chloe x Halle are performing songs from their debut album, The Kids Are Alright, during the On The Run II tour.
