Eric Lars Bakke / ESPN ImagesWeeks after welcoming her second child with Russell Wilson, Ciara has released her new song and video for “Rooted,” a new collaboration with Ester Dean.

The singer celebrates Black pride and excellence, singing “All my songs come with melanin/ Got the heart, got the soul like Harriett/ A queen since she born, that was evident/That’s evidence, of Black excellence.”

The video captures tons of Black imagery, shown through various dance moves, and was shot two days before Ciara gave birth to her third child, Win. Even with her baby bump, “the Level Up” singer couldn’t resist performing some dance moves by the pool.

Ciara’s two children — Future, 6, and Sienna, 3 — also made adorable cameos.

Rooted” is a reminder to young Black girls and boys to appreciate the historical essence of their hair, skin tone and talent, and to continue being “rooted.”

The video ends with a bold message that reads: “To all my young Rosas and Young Luthers, keep marching. Don’t stop fighting for what you believe in. To all my Black queens and kings, continue to plant and spread seeds of love, hope and pride in your tribe. Everything you need to survive and thrive is rooted in you. Stay rooted.”

The video arrives on the heels of continuing demands for justice for the deaths of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, with images of the two slain people appearing in the video.
