The 13th annual Roots Picnic Festival, named after its founders, is back and bigger than ever this year. On Tuesday, Questlove took to Instagram to reveal Summer Walker, Burna Boy, Da Baby and Meek Mill as the Philadelphia festival’s headliners this summer.

Musiq Soulchild, Thundercat, SWV, Brandy, Wu Tang Clan member Ghostface and Raekwon, SIR, Buddy, Phony PPL, and DJ Diamond Kuts, to name a few, will also take the stage at The Mann Center at Fairmount Park in Philadelphia.

D’usse Palooza will most definitely be in the building, setting the vibes for the hip-hop festival. There will also be live podcast recordings for The READ podcast, Around the Way Curls Podcast, CRWN with Elliot Wilson, and Questlove Supreme Podcast.

This festival is at the cornerstone of hip-hop culture, bringing together R&B and hip-hop music and iconic artists. “This year we are presenting a few special collaborative sets, one specifically with the Roots celebrating R&B music, with some legendary artists, says Shawn Gee, co-founder of the event and President of Live Nation Urban. “Personally, I am excited that Meek Mill will grace the Roots Picnic stage this year, as this is the only major event in our hometown that he hasn’t played yet.”

Last year’s sold-out Roots Picnic Festival celebrated the 20-year anniversary of The Roots Things Fall Apart album, released in 1999 and featuring “You Got Me” with Erykah Badu. During 21 Savage‘s set, five people were injured during a stampede after a false gun scare.

The 2020 Roots Festival Picnic will take place on Saturday, May 30th. Tickets go on sale Friday at noon.
