Dallas Austin reveals Drumline movie was about his romance with Kim Porter

by

Prince Williams/WireImageAs the hip hop community continues to mourn the loss of model-actress Kim Porter, music producer Dallas Austin has shared some details about their past relationship.

Posting a throwback prom photo of himself and Porter, Austin shared some touching memories about his childhood friend on Instagram.

“This is the hardest post I’ve ever had to do…my mom and Kim’s mom was pregnant with us at the same time in Columbus,” he captioned the image.

“I have never known a life without Kim Porter from kindergarten through all of our life long experiences in high school, having matching BMWs or her being the biggest believer in me making it as a producer and us getting out of Columbus to be somebody…and we made it!!”

After saying they were “inseparable” growing up, Austin went on to reveal that his 2002 collegiate film Drumline, starring Nick Cannon and Zoe Saldana, was based on their real-life romance.

“Most people don’t know that Zoe Saldana played the role of Kim in Drumline as nick cannon played my character,” he continued. “We saw purple rain 15times in the theater and if you knew her you knew a strong beautiful smiling gangster angel ! I know GOD is perfect but sometimes even perfect can make a mistake.”

As previously noted, a coroner is scheduled to perform an autopsy to determine the official cause of death for Porter.

According to TMZ, law enforcement officers said that Porter wasn’t feeling well the night before she passed, and when family members went to wake her on Thursday, she was non-responsive. When paramedics arrived they pronounced she had passed away.

Porter was suffering from flu-like symptoms, and was being treated with saline and vitamins.
