Essence FestivalDiana Ross is set to make her first appearance on the Merecedes-Benz Superdome stage as part of the all-star line up for Essence Fest 2017.
Essence announced the initial lineup today for its 2017 concert series which, in addition to Ross, includes Mary J Blige, Chaka Khan, Solange, Erykah Badu, India.Arie, Jazmine Sullivan, John Legend, Master P, Michel’le, Sir the Baptist, and Teyana Taylor.
Additional acts are said to be announced in the coming weeks.
“This year’s Festival lineup puts women at the forefront of an incredible weekend of entertainment featuring more than 40 of the world’s most gifted artists and performers,” said Essence President Michelle Ebanks.
“It is an honor to welcome the inimitable Diana Ross to the Festival for the first time. Plus, Festival veteran Mary J. Blige is back to share ‘Strength of a Woman’ with her most passionate fans.”
The 23rd annual event will return to New Orleans on June 30 and run through July 2, 2016. The festival will take place across five stages, including the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and its four Superlounges.
