Dionne Warwick teases The Weeknd and Chance the Rapper over their stage names

by

Marcus Ingram/Getty ImagesLegendary singer Dionne Warwick had some fun over the weekend, from engaging Taylor Swift in a super wholesome exchange to poking fun at The Weeknd and Chance the Rapper.

For the latter, the “I Say a Little Prayer” singer let it be known that she was tired of wondering how the two came up with their stage monikers.  So, she took to Twitter on Saturday to hit them up personally and demand answers.

She first reached out to Chance and wrote, “Hi, @chancetherapper. If you are very obviously a rapper why did you put it in your stage name? I cannot stop thinking about this.”

The “Holy” artist quickly responded to the shout out, but was hilariously unable to provide an answer because he was “still freaking out that u know who I am.”

“Of course I know you. You’re THE rapper,” Warwick, 79, teasingly shot back. “Let’s rap together. I’ll message you.”

The 27-year-old was delighted over the offer and sweetly replied, “I will be whatever you wanna call me Ms Warwick. God bless you.”

Once Warwick was done grilling Chance, she set her sights on the “Blinding Lights” singer.

“The Weeknd is next. Why? It’s not even spelled correctly?,” the five-time Grammy Award winner hilariously wondered aloud

She then threatened in a follow up tweet, “If you have ‘The’ in your name i’m coming for you. I need answers today.”

Of course, The Weenkd was overjoyed to hear who was poking fun at his stage name and immediately wrote back, “I just got roasted by Dionne Warwick and I feel honored! You just made my day.”  He also included the crying laughing and three red heart emojis.

Unfortunately, Warwick’s questions remain unanswered… but, at least she got a rap collab with Chance out of it!
