Drake is no rookie when it comes to the Grammy Awards. Despite receiving 13 nominations but only winning one, in the Best Rap Album category for 2011’s Take Care, the rapper says just getting recognized is enough in itself.

According to CTVNews.com, the rap mogul, who is up for awards in five categories this year, explained why winning doesn’t “make or break any artist.”

“To be recognized in any capacity for the music that we make is great, [but] I don’t think the Grammys make or break any artist,” he said during a recent interview in Toronto. “I don’t think anybody should live or die by the Grammys — that’s my opinion.”

He adds, “I think it’s a great organization and obviously [has a] deep-rooted history in music, but at the same time, if I go home with no Grammys I still feel great about what we did. I think anybody should feel that way.”

This year’s ceremony will see Drake’s Nothing Was the Same competing against Jay Z‘s Magna Carta…Holy Grail, Kendrick Lamar‘s good kid, m.A.A.d city, Kanye West‘s Yeezus and Macklemore & Ryan LewisThe Heist for Best Rap Album.

The 56th Grammy Awards airs Sunday at 8 p.m. on CBS.
