Drake will take on hosting duties for the first time on this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live, which is also SNL‘s first original broadcast of the new year.
Drizzy also will deliver a musical perform on the sketch comedy show, marking the second time he’s appeared as a musical guest — he previously showcased in 2011.
Viewers can expect Drake to show off his acting chops, but it won’t be the first time he’s had to memorize lines. Before becoming a major rap star, Drake’s first claim to fame was his role as Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi: The Next Generation.
Drake recently expressed his excitement for the upcoming episode during an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday. “Yesterday I did the read-through,” he says. “And it was like probably one of the best days of my life.”
The episode airs this Saturday, January 18 at 11:30 p.m ET on NBC.
