Drake Inspired by Marvin Gaye for New Album “Nothing Was the Same”

by

ovosound.comWith just under two weeks until he releases his new album, Nothing Was The Same, Drake is giving more details about the overall direction of the highly anticipated project.

“This album is not some straight rap album, I’ll never do a straight rap album,” he tells MTV News. “That’s not how I came into this and that’s never what I’ll do. I make songs for the people.”

With songs like “Hold On We’re Going Home,” its apparent that Drizzy is looking to serve up more melodic tracks, in part inspired by the legendary Marvin Gaye. “I have aspirations to be Marvin Gaye in the back of my head. So I just want to sing the world’s triumphs and problems on one record.”

Nothing Was the Same arrives on September 24.
