Drake makes history again: first artist with 50 billion streams

by

Republic RecordsDrake continues to make history: He’s now the first artist to surpass 50 billion streams.

Drizzy is dominating the charts, these days: His album Scorpion remains number one on the BillboardTop 200 for a fifth straight week, and “In My Feelings” has been at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for four consecutive weeks.

Last month, Drake set the all-time weekly streaming record when “In My Feelings” earned 116 million streams for the week ending July 19. That broke the record of 103 million set in 2013 by “Harlem Shake” by Bauer.

“God’s Plan” was the first single from Scorpion, and now, reportedly, Drake wants to further capitalize on its success. According to TMZ, he’s filed to copyright the phrase for a clothing line and a TV show.

Drake will kickoff his Aubrey and the Three Amigos Tour with Migos Friday in Kansas City, Missouri. It was originally scheduled to begin July 26 in Salt Lake City, but was pushed back after Offset was arrested for gun and drug possession on July 20.
