by

After the abrupt dismissal of charges in the case of former ‘Empire’ star Jussie Smollett, he went before cameras saying that he just wanted to “get back to work,”  as he continued to proclaim that he had no hand in staging a racist, homophobic attack on himself in late January.   But, things don’t seem like they’ll get back to normal for the actor who portray Jamal on the music intensive hit Fox drama.

Shortly after the charges were dropped,  the FBI is still trying to determine whether or not Jussie sent a hate letter to the Chicago set of Empire. If they find that he did, he could face felony charges.   And, the Chicago Police Department and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel blasted the Cook County DA’s office for the more, calling it a ‘whitewash of justice.”   The CPD also, as part of the Freedom of Information Act released a full copy of Smollett’s case file.

Meantime, all is not well amongst his former castmates and crew, as TMZ reports, that they are said to be divided over his innocence.

According to sources close to TMZ, a number of people on set believe Jussie was a victim, and the dismissal of his charges prove his innocence. Others however, as many agree with the prosecutor’s initial finding that the attack was staged to help negotiate a pay rise.
