Essence Festival offers star studded line-up including Mary J. Blige, Queen Latifah and Janet Jackson

ESSENCEAfter the success of the 2017 Essence Fest-inspired summer blockbuster Girls Trip, this year’s Essence Fest is expected to be bigger and better than ever.

While the nightly lineup at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome is guaranteed to be impressive, with music acts like Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Queen Latifah, Snoop Dogg, Erykah BaduJill ScottMissy Elliott, Ledisi, Xscape, Miguel and Remy Ma, the daytime speakers at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center are also just as notable. 

Iyanla Vanzant, Angela Rye, DeRay McKesson, Vivica Fox, Lester Holt, Nicole Murphy, Misa Hylton, Dapper Dan, and Mona Scott-Young are just some of the talent who’ll be featured during this year’s daytime Conference & Expo panels and booths. 

From Friday to Sunday, Essence attendees will get to hear from some of the most influential voices in business, politics, entertainment, activism, beauty, fashion, health & wellness. They’ll also hear Emmy Award-winner and The Chi creator Lena Waithe give the Empowerment Stage keynote on Friday afternoon.

And for those who need a little extra inspiration after the long weekend, this year, Essence Fest is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of its All-Star Gospel Tribute on Sunday, with a star-studded program honoring Gospel legend Dottie Peoples.

As previously reported, the festival kicks off with a Day of Service on Thursday. It continues with the Conference & Expo daytime speakers, booths and concerts, starting on July 6 and running through Sunday, July 8.
