Essence Festival to celebrate 25th anniversary in July 2019

Bennett Raglin/Getty Images for EssenceFollowing the 2018 Essence Festival earlier this month in New Orleans, Essence announced Monday that the 25th anniversary of the festival will be held July 4-7, 2019, also in New Orleans.

“The Essence Festival represents culture, community and a powerful convening around one of the largest curated content experiences in the world,” Essence Communications President Michelle Ebanks says.

“As we look forward to the Festival’s 25th anniversary celebration in 2019, we will continue to offer curated platforms of entertainment, empowerment, entrepreneurship, activism and more that will both engage and inspire Black women globally.”

Over 500,000 people attended this year’s festival, enjoying performances by Janet JacksonErykah BaduJill ScottSnoop DoggMissy ElliottRemy MaMary J. BligeXscape and many more.

The festival also included daytime seminars, with speakers like Iyanla Vanzant, Angela Rye, DeRay McKesson, Vivica Fox, Lester Holt, Nicole Murphy, Misa Hylton, Dapper Dan, and Mona Scott-Young appearing at the Conference & Expo panels and booths. 

Pre-registration is now available for the 2019 Essence Festival.
