Ex-Cop Arrested for Violating Social Distancing Order by Playing Catch with Daughter

Colorado police have apologized for “overreaching” after a former State Trooper was arrested for violating the state’s social distancing order. His offense: Playing catch with his 6-year-old daughter in a park. Matt Mooney, 33, says the incident occurred Sunday after he walked to a nearby park with his wife and daughter. As he and his daughter were throwing a softball back and forth, police officers arrived. They told Mooney he was breaking the law and asked him to show I.D., he says. He refused. They told him, “If you don’t identify yourself, we’re going to put you in handcuffs in front of your 6-year-old daughter,” according to Mooney. And that’s just what they did.
