Fans react to 2 Chainz’s decision to reopen his Atlanta restaurants on Monday

Astrid Stawiarz/Getty ImagesGeorgia Governor Brian Kemp had many fueled up by announcing the reopening of numerous non essential businesses such as restaurants, bowling alleys, and theaters on Monday, April 27th amid the novel COVID-19 pandemic.

Rapper 2 Chainz is in deep water by deciding to reopen his Atlanta restaurants for dine-in service, and fans are not happy about it.

The Atlanta rapper plans to open two of his establishments, Escobar Restaurant and Tapas Lounge, on Monday, allowing guests to enjoy indoor eating, despite the risk of spreading the coronavirus. In efforts to flatten the curve of the virus, Escobar locations have only been taking to-go orders to accommodate local foodies, though 2 Chainz has had to furlough some of his employees.

But fans are not happy with 2 Chainz for risking the life of himself and others, calling it a “trash” decision.

“So Escobar, 2 Chainz’s restaurant is going to open on Monday, one user said quoting a news article about the announcement.

“I quote, ‘They also plan to allow valet service and DJs on weekends.’ Why the hell is he putting his staff and the community at risk like this??”

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, safety precautions will be in place at each location, such as requiring all staff members to wear masks and gloves, as well as screening staff with infrared thermometers.

Another told him to please reconsider in the comments on Instagram. “Why open your restaurant Escobar on 4/27/20 when black people are dying at a higher rate from COVID-19,” the user wrote.

2 Chainz has yet to respond.
