Many viewers of Tuesday night’s BET Hip Hop Awards are questioning whether the network got it right when choosing some of the award winners.

During the event, the award for Best Hip Hop Platform went to Yung Miami of the City Girls aka Caresha, who hosts her new video music podcast, Caresha Please. Fans on social media were not shy at expressing their thoughts that while worthy of praise, the platform is too new to win an award, especially up against some of the category’s nominees.

“No disrespect, but Caresha Please has 6 episodes her even being nominated let alone winning is crazy af,” one Twitter user wrote

Another user shared the same sentiment and pointed to the show’s tie with N.O.R.E and DJ EFN‘s popular Drink Champs podcast, which started in 2016. “Ain’t no way Yung Miami Caresha Please podcast should have won a BET AWARD,” the user wrote. “Not yet anyway. Drink Champs should not have to share their win with her just because Diddy is dating her.”

Caresha Please, which kicked off its premiere episode in June this year, went up against Drinks Champs, Million Dollaz Worth of GameBig Boy’s Neighborhood, HipHopDX, NPR Tiny Desk, Verzus and The Breakfast Club.

One Twitter user says BET got it so wrong, they won’t be watching any award shows again.

“This my last award show im watching on BET ….. and you can “BET” that!!” they wrote. “Smh caresha please over the breakfast club and tied with drink champs??!”

Yung Miami didn’t attend the award show to accept the win, but she shared her excitement on Instagram.

“Wow! We did it y’all #careshaplease won it’s 1st award!!!!!! I’m speechlessssssss!!!!!! THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY THAT’S SUPPORTING ME I LOVE YALL!!!!!!!!!” she said.
