Father of alleged R. Kelly cult member claims, “it’s almost like slavery”

Rick Kern/WireImageThe father of one of the women who’s allegedly a member R. Kelly’s equally alleged cult is continuing his attacks against the Pied Piper.

“It’s the abuse that we’re talking about. It’s almost like slavery,” Tim Savage tells TMZ. “Nobody can allow women to go through what we’re going through, especially our daughter. We have experienced this firsthand and we know what’s going on.”

Savage claims his daughter, Jocelyn, is being held hostage by Kelly.  She and Kelly have both denied his accusations.

In response to her claim that her father orchestrated her living with Kelly, Savage says, “That never happened. I don’t know if she got that from R. Kelly or whatever. It never happened. Not one time I orchestrated anything about this.”

The allegations about Kelly stem from a BuzzFeed report that claims the R&B singer is keeping up to six women at his various properties and controlling every aspect of their everyday lives, from what they eat and wear to their sexual encounters with him.

The cult claims have led to a new online petition demanding that recording label Sony drop Kelly.  As of early Friday afternoon, U.S. ET, it had been signed by over 22,600 people, with a stated goal of 25,000 signatures.

“We must not let habitual abusers float above justice simply because they are rich and famous,” the petition reads. “Join us in telling Sony to #DropRKelly for habitually preying on teenage girls for the past 25 years!”

That reference likely refers to past charges against the singer, such as when he was acquitted of 14 charges of making child pornography.  The author of the Buzzfeed report is the same journalist who reported on the case against Kelly in 2008.
