Florida Police Find Body of Missing Protestor

by

The search for a 19-year-old Florida woman who went missing during a protest earlier this month has come to a tragic end. One of two bodies found over the weekend in Tallahassee has been identified as Oluwatoyin Salau, police announced Monday. Salau had been involved in a number of demonstrations since the death of George Floyd, often standing before the crowd and reading off the names of the victims of police brutality. The other body has been identified as 75-year-old Victoria Sims, according to the Tallahassee Police Department. It’s unclear if the deaths are related. Police say they’ve taken a 49-year-old man into custody in connection with the deaths, but provided no further details. “Toyin was very passionate,” her friend Danaya Hemphill says. “She was very vocal she was very loving, very spiritual, very caring. Toyin she was like a light in a dark room. That was Toyin.” Any thoughts on why police aren’t revealing details of the arrest?
