Forbes: Dr. Dre Had Biggest Single-Year Payday Ever for a Musician in 2014

Chelsea Lauren/Getty Images for BETDr Dre was the highest-earning musician of 2014, according to Forbes, in fact, according to the magazine they year he had the biggest single-year payday of any musician in history.

The hitmaker and business mogul raked in $620 million before taxes according to the magazine and easily earned the top spot on the publication’s list of the World’s Most Highest-Paid Musicians of 2014. Dre earned his whopping fortune this year following the sale of Beats by Dre, the company he co-founded, to Apple for $3 billion.

Coming in a distant second is Beyonce, who earned $115 million from the Mrs. Carter Show tour, her self-titled album and endorsements from major companies like Pepsi and H&M. Her husband Jay Z added $60 million to their household and came in at #12 with his tours and business ventures, including D’Ussé, Armand de Brignac and Roc Nation. Hov tied with Diddy, who made bank from Diageo’s Ciroc vodka.

Other stars on Forbes‘ list include Rihanna, at #18 with 48 million; Jennifer Lopez at #24 with 37 million; and Drake at #30 with 33 million.

The list is based on earnings between June 2013 and June 2014, taking into account tour receipts, record sales, merchandise sales, endorsement deals and other income.
