by

Entertainment OneBrandy is celebrating the 25th anniversary of her self-titled debut album by releasing a new single called “Freedom Rings.”

Brandy’s debut arrived September 27, 1994. It went on to sell four million copies, and it earned her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. The album’s first two singles, “Baby” and “I Wanna Be Down,” both hit number one on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

It’s been a minute since we had any new solo music from Brandy. “Freedom Rings” follows her 2016 single “Beggin & Pleadin”, and her 2012 album Two Eleven.  In the new song, she sings, “I can hear the clouds begging me to spread my wings again/Yeah, like I forgot what being fly’s about/I’m just wiser now.”

The 40-year-old entertainer is also featured on Daniel Caesar’s latest single,” Love Again,” from his album, Case Study 01. As an actress, Brandy recently played the role of Cassie Brown on the Fox-TV series Star.
